The 11U Crusaders traveled once again to Greenville,SC this past weekend in efforts to find plenty of sunshine, warm weather and baseball in the air.    Instead,  the 11U Crusaders would battle their way to a first place finish playing up and competing in the impressive 12U Division on Saturday in less than favorable conditions.   The tournament bracket play would be canceled on Sunday due to overnight showers and miserable field conditions in Piedmont/Greenville,SC.   Therefore,  the number 1 seeded team would take home the crown from Saturdays pool play results and runs scored versus runs allowed format in 2 games played.

The 11U Crusaders would win the Number 1 seed and tournament victory with two impressive wins over two very impressive and powerful 12U teams (12U Maulin Longhorns & 12U Upstate Baseball Academy).   The recap of the games go as follows:


Game 1 –   11U Crusaders vs. 12U Maulin Longhorns (Maulin,SC)  –        15 – 0

Two Pitchers work together as Crusaders Baseball 11U Shuts Out Maulin Longhorns 12U

CSturgill gets the win as he pitched 3 innings allowing 2 hits and zero runs with 2Ks and CRowland closed the game with 1 inning/ 1 Strikeout as the 11U Crusaders posted an impressive all around team performance in a solid win.

The 11U Crusaders were led at the plate with explosive batting perfomances  by MWard (2-3 with 5RBI), CSturgill (3-3 with 3 RBI), TBlankenship  (3-3 with 2 RBI), C Rowland (2-3 with 1 RBI),  N Stoots (1-3 with 1RBI) , A Franklin (1-2 with 1 RBI) ,  ELarkin (2RBI).

Defensively No errors presented with an excellent defense performance!  Great team win!


Game 2-  11U Crusaders vs. 12U Upstate Baseball Academy (Spartanburg,SC)  –   8-3

Two 11U Crusaders pitchers combine for 10 Strikeouts to secure victory against the talented 12U UBA squad

ELarkin would collect 5K’s in 2.0  innings of work while MWard would shut the door and collect the save with 5K’s in 2 innings of work to overpower the 12 UBA and will the Crusaders to victory.  Impressive speed and location of pitches on display!

C Rowland  (2-3),  K Mundy (2-3 with 2 RBI),  MWard (2-2), T Blankenship (1-2 with 2 RBI),  A Franklin (1 RBI),  N Stoots (1RBI)  would all post impressive performances at the plate to lead the way.

11U Crusaders did not commit a single error in the field.  Great job!


The 11U Crusaders now have their eyes set on playing in their first Super NIT of the young season (Beast of the East -Charlotte,NC on April 7-8)  where some of the top 11U Major teams in the country will compete.   Keep working….Keep grinding….stay driven…..challenge yourself and your teammates…and give all the glory to our father above.  Great job boys!
