The 11U (Major) Crusaders extended their win streak to 6-0 to start the 2018 season in what would become a rain shortened weekend competing in the 12U Division – USSSA Swing Into Spring  Classic being played at Tyger Park in Duncan,SC.

The 11U (Major) Crusaders would pick up where they left off from last weekend displaying critical clutch hitting performances, steller defense and total team “Will to Win” attitude.   Unfortunately, the weather would not cooperate for a 2 day tournament as the format was changed to a 1 Day event.    With that being said, the 11U Crusaders would post a co-champion finish and awarded first place USSSA points.

The 2 games played would not disappoint and went as follows:

Game 1-    11U (Major) Crusaders  vs 12U (AAA) Georgia Tribe-               9   –  8

The 11U Crusaders would sieze victory in dramatic walk-off fashion thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple the 12U Georgia Tribe.  With the Crusaders down 8-5 in the bottom of the 5th…..the 11U Crusaders would stay composed and  rally with 3 runs to tie lead by a MWard Sac Fly, Wild Pitch- Steal of Home by T Blankenship and Game Tying Single by C. Sturgill.   G Graziano would walk it off with a game clinching single up the middle and time to celebrate . Final Score 9-8

C Rowland would lead the Crusaders with a 2-3 performance at the plate.   M Ward gets his 3rd win of the season coming in relief with 1.0 innings pitched and only 1 run given up.

Game 2-  11U (Major) Crusaders vs 12U (AA) Pro Prospects-  Greenville,SC              18-0

11U Crusaders AFranklin tosses No Hitter posting 6K’ s alongside massive offensive explosion in route of the 12U (AA) Pro Prospects

The 11U Crusaders would post their most impressive all around performance of the season “Under the Lights” in Game 2 against the 12U Pro Prospects of Greenville,SC.   A Franklin tossed a No Hitter locking down 6 strikeouts and allowing only 2 walks in a dominating pitching performance thru 3 innings while collecting his 3rd win of the young season.  On the other side, the 11U Crusaders would post 15 hits accounting for 13 runs in a top to bottom hitting display by these young 11 year olds.  The Pro Prospects would have 5 errors in the field accounting for the remaining 5 runs.

E Larkin would lead the way with a 3 for 3 day at the plate with all three hits being doubles.   C Sturgill, N Stoots, A Franklin and J Arnold would post 2 for 3 performances at the plate.

Excellent weekend and team performance for the 11U Crusaders posting a 6-0 record in South Carolina over 2 weeks of play.   The 11U Crusaders will be back in the Tri-Cities,TN area next week (3-17/18) playing locally at Domtar Park (Kingsport,TN) in the 12U Division.  Keep working hard and grinding boys!  Great job!
